Tulane IT is dedicated to university continuity through potential disease pandemics. We are working hard to address and solution all issues that may arise from university closures due to a pandemic.

Remote Password Reset-If you are working remotely and not connected to Tulane's wireless network, then you must connect to the VPN to change your password. Follow these instructions to reset your password remotely. If you have forgotten your password and need to reset it, please click here.

Canvas (Learning Management System)

Box (HIPAA Compliant File Storage)

All Faculty and Staff users have unlimited online cloud storage through Box.  This storage is integrated with the Canvas LMS. For information on how to use Box in Canvas, please click here.

Zoom (Web Conference)

Zoom Video Conferencing is available for Faculty, Staff, and Students. Video conferencing is fully interactive and allows all participants the ability to see, speak, hear, and screen-share with each other.

Zoom (Webinars)

A Zoom webinar is a view-only platform where only the host is visible and attendees cannot see each other. Tulane has two 100 user licenses, two 500 user licenses, and one single 1000 user license for webinars. To schedule a webinar, please click here (sign in may be required).

Zoom Webinars can be broadcast to Facebook Live. For a how-to guide, please click here.

Sharestream (Store Zoom video recordings) The ShareStream Media Platform can be used for uploading, editing, storing, managing and delivering video and audio content in a secure environment. The ILC has Sharestream training. Please click here.
Fileshare/Network drive access

Fileshare/network drive access is only available on the internal network. Please contact the Service Desk to have an IT representative assist you in migrating your files to Box cloud storage. If you need to access your files directly, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) client and Anti-Virus protection client can be installed on your device for remote access. Currently we have a limited number of concurrent connections; be sure to log off when your work is completed. IT is working to increase bandwidth and support for additional users.

**Please note that a VPN cannot be used without first installing Trend Micro, Tulane's Anti-Virus Solution.** 

VPN Access for Internet Censorship For students returning to countries with internet censorship, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) will allow you to access blocked Tulane sites and resources. A VPN client and Anti-Virus protection client must be installed on your device for remote access. Currently we have a limited number of concurrent connections; be sure to log off when your work is completed. IT is working to increase bandwidth and support for additional users.

**Please note that a VPN cannot be used without first installing Trend Micro, Tulane's Anti-Virus Solution.** 

  **Students are strongly encouraged to install and test these clients prior to returning home to ensure proper set-up**

Printing (transcripts, diplomas, payroll checks) Consult with your department about special printing procedures. Please contact the Service Desk for further assistance.
Phone System

Several options are available for remote workers:

  • Clearspan Anywhere allows you to place and receive calls from a cell phone as if it was your Tulane desk phone.  Inbound calls to your Tulane phone will ring both your desk phone and cell phone.  Outbound calls will show your Tulane phone number as the Caller-ID.  To request this service please visit Request Clearspan Anywhere and sign in to access the request page.
  • A soft phone is an application which is available for Windows/Mac/Mobile devices. A soft phone can be used to place and receive calls just as if it was your desk phone. To request a soft phone please visit Request a soft phone and sign in to access the request page
  • Fax transmissions can be received as an email attachment. To request this service, please visit Request Virtual Fax and sign in to access the request page

Decentralized Storage and Infrastructure

The Service Desk is here to assist with migrating your data to the data center. If your data cannot be migrated, you will need to contact your department head about creating a continuity plan.
