Assigning Temporary Library Accounts

Some guests, visiting scholars and other Tulane affiliates are given temporary access to use library resources for definite time periods. This document defines the requirements and authorization that must be obtained before these users can be granted temporary library access.

1 Purpose

Some guests, visiting scholars and other Tulane affiliates are given temporary access to use library resources for definite time periods. This document defines the requirements and authorization that must be obtained before these users can be granted temporary library access. 

2  Policy Statement

2.1  Access Request Form

  • Prior to the granting of any temporary library access, each potential user must complete a Temporary Library Access Request Form and provide all required information on the form. The required information includes a valid government or school issued photo ID. A copy of the photo ID must be maintained on file.
  • The form should be approved by a library director if access is required for more than a week.

2.2  Duration of Access

The following shall apply for the different category of temporary users:

  • Visiting Scholars - visiting scholars can be granted access for 1 week or 1 month. This is renewable for a maximum of 5 times.
  • Researchers on Sabbatical - Reasearchers on sabbatical can be granted access for 1 month. This is renewable for a maximum of 5 times.
  • Access for visiting scholars and researchers on sabbatical should be approved by a library Director or designee.
